Equinox Hotels has opened its first property outside the United States at AMAALA, combining advanced fitness, sleep science and regenerative wellness with a prime position overlooking Triple Bay.
Equinox Resort AMAALA has officially opened its doors on Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coast, introducing the American brand’s distinctive approach to high-performance living to one of the Kingdom’s most ambitious luxury tourism destinations.
Located in Marina Village at Triple Bay, the new resort is only the second hotel in the Equinox portfolio and its first outside the United States. Its arrival adds a highly specialised performance and recovery dimension to AMAALA’s growing hospitality offering.
The resort comprises 128 rooms and suites divided across six categories, including two penthouse suites, as well as 21 branded residences. Foster + Partners led the architectural design, while Rockwell Group created the interiors, drawing inspiration from the coastline, marine environment and mountains surrounding the destination.
John Pagano, Group CEO of developer Red Sea Global, said the opening brought “a distinctive new dimension” to AMAALA’s wellness proposition, combining Equinox’s expertise in high-performance living with the destination’s focus on wellness, sport and luxury.
Wellness designed around performance
Rather than treating wellbeing as an additional hotel amenity, Equinox Resort AMAALA places movement, nutrition, recovery and rest at the centre of the guest experience.
Its 704 sq m of indoor and outdoor training space constitutes the largest fitness facility at AMAALA. The facilities are intended for guests who wish to maintain or improve their physical performance while travelling, supported by personalised fitness and regeneration programmes.
The emphasis on recovery continues inside the guestrooms. Drawing on the Equinox Hotels sleep-science platform, rooms feature circadian lighting designed to work with the body’s internal clock, enhanced acoustic insulation to reduce sleep disruption and precision climate controls intended to create optimum sleeping conditions.
At the heart of the resort’s wellness facilities is a 1,602 sq m spa offering the proprietary Equinox X Circuit. The seven-stage experience guides guests through a progressive programme of recovery and renewal, combining technology with personalised treatments.
Facilities include cryotherapy, infrared saunas, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, hydrotherapy and hot-and-cold contrast treatments. The objective is to provide a science-led approach to regeneration that can be adapted to each guest’s needs and performance goals.
Four pools overlooking Triple Bay
Guests have access to four outdoor swimming pools, including a dedicated lap pool, leisure pools and a rooftop magnesium salt pool with views across Triple Bay, AMAALA Marina and the AMAALA Yacht Club.
The resort’s food and beverage offering follows what Equinox describes as an “indulgently healthy” philosophy, balancing nutrition with the pleasure expected from a luxury dining experience.
Its four dining concepts — Mint + Co, Soho Souk, Sama Ai and EQX Den — each offer a different atmosphere while remaining aligned with the resort’s broader high-performance lifestyle positioning.
A significant addition to AMAALA
Equinox Resort AMAALA joins an expanding collection of international luxury hospitality brands at a destination being developed around wellness, sport, culture and lifestyle experiences.
AMAALA is expected to comprise more than 1,600 hotel rooms across nine resorts, together with branded residences, a marina, specialist wellness facilities and a carefully selected range of restaurants and retail outlets.
For luxury travel advisors, the opening introduces a notably different proposition to the Red Sea. Equinox Resort AMAALA is likely to appeal not only to traditional wellness travellers but also to active, health-conscious clients seeking measurable fitness and recovery benefits without compromising on design, service or comfort.
