Nestled within the Saudi desert, Daimumah is a free-to-visit tourist destination that invites visitors to explore and enjoy the rich history and culture of AlUla valley. The name Daimumah comes from the Arabic word for “sustainability”, reflecting the site’s commitment to preserving and regenerating the natural and cultural heritage of the oasis.
Daimumah is part of an ancient farmland that has been cultivated for centuries by communities who were drawn to the valley’s water, sheltering mountains and fertile earth. They carefully shaped and nurtured the landscape, creating a lush oasis that produces a variety of crops, including eggplant, onions, bell peppers, lemons, oranges, herbs and strawberries.
Visitors can tour the site’s strawberry reserves and handpick the berries between December and March, or visit the greenhouse area to learn how exotic fruits are grown using water and space-saving techniques. Daimumah also blends traditional and modern farming practices, using solar panels to generate electricity for all its facilities.
The site also features art installations by three artists who were inspired by the people of AlUla and the folklore dances of Saudi weddings. The installations are scattered around the oasis, creating a contrast between the natural and the man-made elements.
One of the highlights of Daimumah is the Explorers’ Garden, where visitors can relax in a giant net strung between the palm trees and connect with nature. The garden offers a serene and scenic experience, with the sound of birds, palm fronds and breezes creating a calming ambience.
Another attraction is the palm house, which is made entirely from palm tree wood. The palm house has a wooden staircase that leads to an attic, where visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the oasis. At the centre of the palm house is a majestic palm tree with branches full of green dates waiting to be picked in August.
There’s also an open-air eatery, a wood-cabin cafe serving hot and cold refreshments and snacks, and souvenir shops. In addition, educational and entertainment workshops are organised by the Royal Commission for AlUla to enrich visitors’ knowledge and appreciation of the oasis.
Daimumah is a living, breathing farm that offers a unique opportunity for modern-day tourists to connect with the past and experience the beauty and diversity of AlUla valley.
