NEOM is expanding its global reach by opening its first international office in London. The initiative, marking a significant step in the development’s vision to become a “living laboratory for innovation and sustainability”, is set to serve as the base for NEOM’s business activities in the UK and across Europe.
NEOM is envisioned as a region of cognitive cities, ports, research centres, sports, entertainment venues, and tourist destinations. It aims to attract entrepreneurs, business leaders, and companies worldwide to research, develop, and commercialize new technologies in transformative ways. With its global outreach now extending to London, NEOM is poised to further its international ethos and culture of exploration and diversity.
The launch event in London this week, timed to coincide with the World Travel Market, was attended by numerous distinguished guests and strategic partners, including Saudi Ambassador to the UK, Prince Khalid bin Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, with the UK’s Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden CBE MP, and NEOM CEO Nadhmi Al-Nasr leading the ceremony. The presence of these prominent figures underscores the importance of the new office in fostering partnerships and investment opportunities.
Located in the central district of Holborn, the office is a major milestone for NEOM, which aims to redefine livability, business, and conservation on a global scale. The establishment of this outpost is a clear indicator of NEOM’s commitment to expanding its international footprint and building upon its existing relationships with UK and European partners, while also seeking new collaborations.
Ambassador Prince Khalid expressed confidence in the UK playing an instrumental role in NEOM’s journey to accelerate human progress and create a new future. Deputy Prime Minister Dowden emphasised the potential of integrating NEOM with London’s finance and tech ecosystems, hinting at the UK capital becoming a secondary hub for NEOM’s design and project management ambitions.
The Crown Prince stated: “NEOM aims to transform how people around the world live and work, and the opening of its office in London provides a platform to introduce the project and its global importance to UK investors, organizations and innovators who share its vision and ethos. The opening of the office reflects the important role that we believe the UK and its industry leaders will play in contributing to NEOM’s efforts to accelerate human progress and deliver a new future for all.”
NEOM’s CEO, Nadhmi Al-Nasr, emphasised the necessity of having a global presence and the choice of London as a strategic location to consolidate NEOM’s influence in both the UK and Europe. The London office is expected to propel NEOM’s already significant investments and partnerships in these regions.
“We believe we must have a global footprint and work with the world’s brightest minds to solve the world’s most pressing challenges,” said Nadhmi Al-Nasr, CEO of NEOM. “From this standpoint, choosing London to open our first international office fits within the framework of consolidating our presence in the United Kingdom and Europe in general. NEOM has already established many exciting investments and partnerships with UK and European entities, and through this office, we intend to explore further opportunities for collaboration and to promote NEOM’s unique capabilities and investment opportunities.”
Abdallah Alhazani will lead the new NEOM Europe entity as CEO, transitioning from his role at Oxagon, NEOM’s center for advanced and clean industries, and the NEOM Investment Fund, the strategic investment arm of the development.
