NEOM partners with Burgess for Sindalah Island

NEOM has taken another significant stride towards establishing itself as a premier global yachting hub with the announcement of a strategic partnership with Burgess, a leading global superyacht service provider. This collaboration is set to elevate Sindalah, NEOM’s superyacht island, into a world-class destination as it prepares for its grand opening in 2024.

Sindalah is poised to become NEOM’s first unveiled asset, positioned off the north-western coast of Saudi Arabia. It promises an unparalleled luxury lifestyle, nestled within a bespoke yachting ecosystem designed to make Sindalah Marina a cornerstone of the global yachting calendar. Through the partnership, Burgess will extend a comprehensive suite of luxury services, encompassing yacht management, charter and charter management, sales and purchase, yacht insurance, new build and refit projects, yacht marketing, and procurement.

Antoni Vives, Chief Urban Development and Islands Officer at NEOM, expressed the commitment to offering top-tier services for guests and yachts visiting the Red Sea. “Chartering plays an integral role in the yachting experience. We anticipate that many visitors to Sindalah will immerse themselves in the nautical lifestyle through chartering a yacht. Yacht owners and managers will also find this an attractive destination to offer their vessels for charter in the Red Sea. Burgess’s expertise is key to activating this essential service from Sindalah’s inception,” said Vives.

The growing appetite for superyacht services in the region has been met with Burgess’s decision to establish a presence in the Middle East since 2016, now culminating in their involvement with Sindalah. The company’s expertise is expected to ensure that guests’ needs are impeccably catered to, whether it involves custom superyacht charters or the intricate logistics of offering yachts for charter in the Red Sea.

Jonathan Hind, Managing Director of Burgess Middle East, shared his enthusiasm about the new venture: “We are thrilled to contribute to the evolution of NEOM. Sindalah is set to deliver an exceptional superyacht experience, and we are fully equipped to make this vision a reality for our clientele.”

Adding to NEOM’s growing tourism offerings, Sindalah will reshape the luxury international yachting calendar offering a new season for visitors and guests to enjoy. It will feature a prestigious 86-berth marina, an ideal destination for accommodating luxury vessels, while offshore buoys will house superyachts. Providing one-of-a-kind nautical experiences, Sindalah will offer 413 ultra-premium hotel rooms, in addition to 333 top-end serviced apartments. A luxe beach club, glamorous yacht club, and 38 unique culinary offerings will provide an incomparable experience in the Red Sea. With its incredible array of amenities, state-of-the-art marine facilities, strategic location and exceptional natural landscapes, Sindalah is expected to become established as one of the most alluring islands in the region.

The opening of Sindalah affirms the accelerated pace in the development of NEOM towards achieving the ambitious vision of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, with the development of its flagship projects such as THE LINE, its designs recently revealed by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince; TROJENA, its global mountain tourism destination that will be the Arabian Gulf’s first outdoor skiing retreat; and OXAGON, its reimagined manufacturing and innovation city.

The partnership is supported by the Saudi Red Sea Authority (SRSA), which has been instrumental in fostering a conducive environment for yachting activities while prioritizing sustainability. In 2023, SRSA introduced regulations to enhance the chartering of large yachts and the welcoming of private yachts, streamlining the customer journey and safeguarding the Red Sea’s environment. These efforts include deploying technology for permits, regulating coastal tourism, encouraging investments, and defining infrastructure needs.

As NEOM and Burgess prepare for the 2024 launch of Sindalah, this alliance signals a new chapter in luxury travel and the transformative potential of Saudi Arabia’s tourism and leisure sectors.
