Tourism Minister Champions Young Talent @ ITB

As ITB Berlin welcomed attendees from around the globe, Saudi Arabia’s Minister for Tourism, Ahmed Al Khateeb, shone the spotlight on the Kingdom’s younger generation. His presence, alongside Vice Minister Princess Haifa Al Saud and the CEO of the Saudi Tourism Authority, Fahd Hamidaddin, along with his team at the Saudi pavilion, represented more than national pride — it was a gesture of faith in the kingdom’s collective future.

It was in a simple group photograph that the spirit of camaraderie and mutual respect truly emerged. Al Khateeb’s words to his team went beyond praise for their current work; they were an acknowledgment of the young talent that is increasingly defining Saudi Arabia’s tourism sector.

The delegation, comprising around 70 members, mirrors the Kingdom’s demographics, with a substantial portion of the nation’s populace being under 35. These individuals are not just participants in Saudi Arabia’s development; they are at the vanguard, driving the nation towards innovative horizons.

Saudi Arabia is in the midst of pivotal change, as it works to realise the aspirational targets of Vision 2030. This blueprint for growth is set to reshape the nation, pivoting towards sustainable and diversified economic prosperity, with a particular focus on the zest and ingenuity of its youth — who make up 63% of the population.

Findings from a study by Red Sea Global punctuate this narrative change, revealing a significant shift in career preferences amongst Saudi youth — 91% are drawn to the tourism industry, a marked move away from traditional mainstays like oil. This is in tandem with Vision 2030’s goals, as a significant majority of the youth and their parents view the tourism and hospitality sectors as increasingly vital to the nation’s financial future.

Ultimately, Vision 2030 aspires to leave an indelible mark… in nurturing the young Saudis who are to inherit and shape the future. Al Khateeb’s photo session at ITB Berlin was more than just a “photo op” — it was a testament to Saudi Arabia’s commitment to its youth, an investment in the leaders who will carry the nation forward.
