In an ambitious move set to transform family tourism in Saudi Arabia, SEVEN, under the ownership of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), has announced the launch of its most extensive entertainment destination to date, SEVEN Abha. This new project, worth over SAR 1.3 billion, is strategically situated between the cities of Abha and Khamis Mushait, close to Abha International Airport, making it an accessible luxury destination for both local and international visitors.
The SEVEN Abha project covers a sprawling area of over 79,000 square metres and is poised to become a cornerstone of family entertainment in the region. It is designed by the globally renowned Gensler architecture and planning firm, which has taken inspiration from the ancient stone buildings of the Aseer region. This design not only respects but also revitalises the local architectural heritage as defined by The Urban Code of Aseer Region.
Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, Chairman of the Aseer Development Authority, highlighted the region’s developmental boom, supported by visionary leadership: “The Aseer region is witnessing an unprecedented renaissance across different sectors and verticals through the endless support from our leadership. SEVEN’s entertainment destination in Abha is one of the key projects in Aseer, which will support our ambition to become a global destination all year round.”
The entertainment complex will feature eight unique attractions that promise diverse and immersive experiences for all ages. These include a family entertainment center with arcade games, unique rides, and virtual reality zones, offering something for every member of the family. In partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Themed Entertainment, a Discovery Adventures jungle-themed edutainment attraction will provide educational yet thrilling experiences for young explorers.
Further enhancing the family-focused offerings, the complex will house a PLAY-DOH-themed entertainment center under an agreement with Hasbro, Inc., designed to stimulate creativity and imagination in children. Additionally, an immersive 12-hole indoor golf adventure will cater to both beginners and avid golfers looking for a family-friendly challenge.
Abdullah AlDawood, Chairman of SEVEN, underlined his enthusiasm for the project’s impact on the local economy and the entertainment sector: “Abha represents another ambitious project in the framework of our efforts to support the entertainment sector across the Kingdom following the objectives and goals of Vision 2030. We are forecasting a GDP contribution of more than SAR 4 billion and over 5 million visitors by 2030. In addition to creating more than hundreds of direct and indirect jobs for the people of Aseer region. “
