Soudah Development has teamed up with Warner Bros. Discovery International (WBD) to shine a global spotlight on the breathtaking beauty, rich cultural heritage, and natural wonders of Soudah Peaks. This region, located in southwest Saudi Arabia, is poised to become one of the world’s premier luxury mountain tourism destinations.
The vast expanse of Soudah Peaks, spanning over 627 square kilometres of natural wonder, is a testament to the Kingdom’s green commitment. With less than 1% earmarked for construction, this initiative reflects an unyielding dedication to sustainability, echoing the principles of the Saudi Green Initiative.
Reaching 3,015 metres above sea level, Soudah Peaks offers stunning undiscovered natural landscapes. The collaboration between Soudah Development and WBD will bring the region’s unique offerings to life through a series of three short-form documentaries. These films will capture the essence of Soudah’s verdant landscapes, rich cultural traditions, and the warm hospitality of its local community.
A cultural and natural extravaganza
The Soudah region is renowned for its diverse flora and fauna, rugged topography, and unique agricultural practices, including traditional beekeeping. The documentaries will explore these aspects, showcasing the region’s natural beauty and cultural depth.
Set to air this summer across Europe, the US, the Middle East, Africa, and India, the documentaries will be broadcast on WBD’s influential TV channels including the Discovery Channel, Travel Channel, and Eurosport 1 and 2. Additionally, they will be available on digital platforms such as Discovery’s YouTube channel, VOX MEDIA’s social networks, and Discovery Channel Weibo in China.
Eng. Saleh Aloraini, CEO of Soudah Development, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership: “We are delighted to join forces with Warner Bros. Discovery to unveil the exceptional beauty and cultural significance of the Soudah region, along with Saudi Arabia, on a global scale. This collaboration marks a pivotal step in our endeavour to position Soudah as a unique luxury mountain tourism destination, and we are confident that it will captivate travellers from around the world.”
Fostering tourism through storytelling
Documentaries like these play a crucial role in fostering tourism. By showcasing the natural splendour and cultural richness of a region, they inspire travellers to explore new destinations. For high-end travel advisors, these films provide invaluable insights into Soudah Peaks, allowing them to craft bespoke travel experiences that cater to discerning clients seeking unique and luxurious adventures.
Mike Rich, Head of Warner Bros. Discovery, Sports & Lifestyle International Brand Partnerships, highlighted the significance of this collaboration: “Partnering with Soudah Development presents an exciting opportunity for us to showcase the unique appeal of the Soudah region through our influential media platforms. We are thrilled to bring captivating stories of Soudah’s natural wonders and cultural heritage to our viewers. We eagerly anticipate a successful collaboration ahead.”
A new horizon in luxury travel
Revealed officially to the trade for first time at the World Travel Market in London last year, Soudah Peaks, nestled in the heart of the Aseer region, is a bold leap into the future of tourism, aligning seamlessly with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. Phase one will see the building of nine low-rise boutique and five-star hotels and the resort will also offer adventure experiences and wellness retreats, all in an immersive cultural environment.
With the Public Investment Fund (PIF) at the helm, the project marks a strategic pivot towards diversifying the nation’s economy, fuelling growth in tourism, hospitality, and entertainment sectors, while also championing the Aseer development strategy.
The project promises a luxury living experience that meticulously preserves the region’s pristine environment and its rich tapestry of cultural and heritage narratives. Soudah Peaks emerges as a testament to Saudi Arabia’s commitment to environmental stewardship and economic diversification, forecast to contribute a massive SAR 29 billion to the Kingdom’s GDP and sparking the creation of thousands of job opportunities.
“Soudah Peaks will be a crowning jewel in our tourism portfolio,” said HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. “It will not only place the Kingdom on the international tourism map but also invite the world to explore and celebrate our storied culture and heritage.”
