Saudia, the national airline of Saudi Arabia, has achieved the highest global ranking for on-time performance in June 2024, according to Cirium, an independent aviation tracking organisation.
The report by Cirium reveals that Saudia recorded an on-time arrival rate of 88.22% and an on-time departure rate of 88.73%, managing 16,133 flights across its network. This network spans over 100 destinations on four continents, making this achievement particularly noteworthy during the busy travel season, which includes the Hajj pilgrimage and summer holidays.
His Excellency Engr. Ibrahim Al-Omar, Director General of Saudia Group, commented on this achievement, stating, “This accomplishment is a realization of our strategic goals to enhance operational efficiency and quality through continuous improvements in flight scheduling and the implementation of the best digital solutions and systems for operations management.
“Maintaining a high level of on-time performance requires significant effort, as it involves overcoming numerous operational challenges in the aviation industry, such as weather conditions, high temperatures, technical issues, and other airport-related factors. I express my gratitude to all Saudia employees for their diligent work in maintaining the national flag carrier’s operational excellence.”
Saudia has consistently been ranked among the top ten global airlines for on-time performance since the previous year, reflecting its commitment to quality and safety in air travel. The airline’s operations are coordinated through the largest Integrated Operation Control Centre (IOCC) in the Middle East. This centre employs cutting-edge technologies for real-time aircraft communication and monitoring, ensuring seamless management of aircraft takeoff and landing procedures across all domestic and international locations.
This performance underscores Saudia’s dedication to maintaining high standards in the aviation industry, even amidst the challenges posed by peak travel periods.
