Healthtrip expands into Middle East, helping position the region as a global health tourism hub

Healthtrip, a UK-based medical and wellness travel platform, has announced its expansion into the Middle East. The company has set up operational offices in both Saudi Arabia and the UAE to better serve the region’s growing demand for healthcare services. The move is in line with the Middle East’s broader push to establish itself as a global hub for health and wellness tourism.

The medical tourism sector is currently valued at over US$1 trillion globally and is experiencing rapid growth, driven by demand for specialised treatments and wellness services. The Middle East, with its accessible healthcare infrastructure and travel options, is emerging as a key destination for patients seeking medical care abroad.

Saudi Arabia has begun investing heavily in medical tourism as part of its Vision 2030 plan, aiming to diversify its economy. The Kingdom has focused on building state-of-the-art medical facilities and forming partnerships with global healthcare providers. Its healthcare sector is poised to attract more international patients, especially in fields like oncology, cardiology, and organ transplants​.

Healthtrip has established a network of over 1,500 hospitals and healthcare providers across countries such as the US, UK, Germany, Thailand, India, and now the Middle East. The platform, which has served more than 65,000 patients from 38 countries, uses AI to connect users with healthcare providers based on treatment type, cost, and location. It also provides destination services, including accommodation, airport transfers, and interpreters.
