Abha gets a boost from the skies… thanks to Saudia

In a move to boost domestic tourism, Saudia Group, through its carriers Saudia and flyadeal, has added eight new daily flights from Jeddah, Riyadh, and Dammam to Abha. This strategic expansion aligns with the Saudi Tourism Authority’s efforts to promote Abha as a premier destination during the “Aseer Season” and “Saudi Summer” campaigns.

Saudia has increased its daily flights to Abha from 14 to 19, marking a notable 35.71% growth. Similarly, flyadeal has expanded its daily operations from 14 to 17 flights, reflecting a 21.42% increase. These enhancements are supported by a modern and efficient fleet of 176 aircraft, ensuring reliable and comfortable travel experiences for passengers.

This expansion is a vital part of Saudia Group’s commitment to Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the Kingdom’s tourism offerings and attract global visitors. By increasing flight frequencies and seat capacity, Saudia Group is meeting the rising demand for travel and enriching the domestic tourism experience.

Importance of internal travel

Internal travel within Saudi Arabia is becoming increasingly important as the Kingdom seeks to showcase its diverse landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and unique tourist destinations. Initiatives like “Aseer Season” and “Saudi Summer” are key to promoting internal travel, reducing seasonal tourism fluctuations, and stimulating local economies.

Abha, the capital of the Aseer Region, is renowned for its pleasant climate, lush landscapes, and cultural significance. The city’s tourism growth has been impressive, driven by both government initiatives and private sector investments. The Aseer Region, with its stunning mountainous terrain, ancient villages, and vibrant markets, offers a unique experience for tourists. The ongoing development of luxury resorts, eco-tourism projects, and cultural festivals further enhances Abha’s appeal as a top destination.

With the addition of new daily flights, Saudia Group is working to support the broader goals of economic diversification and sustainable tourism development in Saudi Arabia.
