The General Entertainment Authority (GEA), chaired by Advisor Turki bin Abdulmohsen Al Al-Shikh, has once again carried over this theme, symbolising the country’s ambitious aspirations and concrete accomplishments.
As festivities unfold across the nation, from Riyadh to Jeddah, and beyond, this national day serves as a celebration not only of Saudi Arabia’s past achievements but also its dynamic present and promising future. From military parades to cultural performances, the country is alive with pride, unity, and enthusiasm as citizens and residents alike join in celebrating the Kingdom’s 94-year journey.
National parades: A display of pride and unity
Starting on 22 September, Riyadh and Jeddah are hosting grand parades organised by the Royal Guard and supported by the General Entertainment Authority. In Riyadh, the parade began at Prince Mohammed bin Saad bin Abdulaziz Road and showcased the Royal Guard musical bands, cavalry, military police, motorcycles, and military vehicles, making its way towards Umm Ajlan Park in the Al-Qirawan district.
Simultaneously, Jeddah’s Royal Guard parade along the Corniche towards Palestine Street Fountain featured a spectacular display of motorcycle cavalcades, classic cars, and a dazzling arrangement of the Royal Guard’s military might. The vibrant streets of Jeddah came alive with the sounds of national pride, drawing thousands of spectators.
Diriyah: A cultural centrepiece for national day
In Diriyah, the birthplace of the Kingdom, Diriyah Gate Development Authority has curated an extraordinary array of events to honour national day. Through traditional performances of Samri and Saudi Ardah, visitors are reminded of the cultural depth that underpins the Kingdom’s identity. At-Turaif, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, serves as a focal point, transformed into a vibrant hub of historical performances and poetry recitals.
Additionally, the collaboration with the King Abdulaziz Foundation (Darah) presents historical cultural sessions that delve into the Kingdom’s unification and the legacy of King Abdulaziz. Bujairi Terrace adds a modern touch with an innovative exhibition on the founder, while the “Interactive Palm Tree” digital installation engages visitors through social media, rewarding participants with valuable prizes.
Diriyah’s historic streets also host an awe-inspiring military parade, featuring 1,000 military personnel and camel and horse riders, highlighting the nation’s strong connection to its heritage and military prowess. The festivities will continue through to 23 September, ensuring that the city remains a cultural and celebratory epicentre for national day.
Jeddah’s record-breaking mosaic and light displays
In Jeddah, the Volunteering and Community Partnership Program (Lenobadir) marked national day with the creation of the world’s largest mosaic, formed from 125,000 natural roses and spanning 94 square metres.
This stunning artwork, featuring the national day slogan, was recognised by the Guinness World Records and stands as a testament to the city’s commitment to volunteerism and community engagement.
The ROSHN waterfront was further illuminated by impressive light shows and 3D projections that transformed the city’s iconic landmarks, including Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Square and the Globe Roundabout, into dazzling spectacles of patriotic pride. These immersive displays, along with poetry and tributes to the nation, encapsulated the unity and loyalty of Jeddah’s citizens as they gathered to celebrate.
Eastern Province and Riyadh: Symbols of growth and unity
In the Eastern Province, more than 20,000 national flags wave across roads and squares, accompanied by 8,000 decorative lights and artistic sculptures, creating an atmosphere filled with patriotism and pride. The province’s celebrations are a reflection of Saudi Arabia’s achievements and its commitment to national cohesion.
Riyadh witnessed its own grandeur through events hosted by the Royal Commission for Riyadh City. The celebrations, continuing until 23 September, are focused on cultural exchange and heritage, with a special emphasis on showcasing the diversity and richness of Saudi culture. National parades, light shows, and traditional Saudi dishes are all part of the festivities, inviting families and diplomats alike to share in the pride of the Kingdom’s past, present, and future.
