Embracing nature and wellness in AlUla

The third edition of the AlUla Wellness Festival, organised by AlUla Moments, is set to commence from October 19 to November 4. This year, the event promises to provide participants with unique opportunities to connect deeply with nature and AlUla’s rich heritage.

Among the fresh additions to the festival are activities such as the Heritage Restoration Experience, Reviving Nature Experience, and Eco-Gardening. A standout offering is the Silent Hike, where participants get to experience the tranquil deserts and canyons of AlUla, allowing them a serene escape from the cacophony of daily life.

These activities aren’t just for leisure; they are mindfully curated to help attendees form a significant bond between their inner selves and the natural wonders around them. Whether you’re a wellness enthusiast, a yoga buff, or a meditation aficionado, the festival provides an enriching space to unite with like-minded individuals.

Rami AlMoallim, the Vice President of Destination Management and Marketing at the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU), expressed his thoughts on the event: “This edition of the Wellness Festival celebrates not only personal well-being but also recognizes nature as an essential contributor to our wellness journey.”

Here’s a glimpse into some of the top experiences at the festival:

  • Heritage Restoration Experience (October 19 to November 30): This activity lets participants delve into AlUla’s historical legacy through the art of mudbrick house construction. Attendees will not only learn about but will also engage in the crafting of these traditional dwellings. The event is a blend of history, architecture, and hands-on engagement.
  • Reviving Nature Experience (October 19 to November 30): This is an artistic journey that emphasizes sustainability. Participants will weave palm fronds from AlUla’s farms to create a monumental sculpture named “Tanafaas” (which translates to “Breath” in Arabic). This initiative is a powerful reminder of the collective role we all play in preserving our environment.
  • Eco Gardening (October 20, 2023, to March 06, 2024): Dive into AlUla’s rich agricultural history and experience the vibrant atmosphere of the Oasis. This eco-gardening activity offers a rare opportunity to interact with local farmers and understand their daily routines and the animals they nurture.
  • The Silent Hike: A 4 km trail through the Hidden Valley of the Arabian Desert lets hikers disconnect, meditate, and appreciate AlUla’s scenic beauty.

In addition to these, the festival sees the return of the Sanctuary Five experience, focusing on holistic health practices such as yoga and salt room therapy.
