Fairmont Hotels & Resorts strengthens Saudi Arabian presence with three landmark openings

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, the iconic luxury hospitality brand within Accor’s global portfolio, has announced a significant expansion into Saudi Arabia, confirming three new hotel openings in key strategic destinations: Al Khobar, the Red Sea, and Madinah. This expansion will introduce a total of 616 keys by 2030, reinforcing Fairmont’s commitment to supporting the Kingdom’s ambitious Vision 2030.

Fairmont Red Sea first to open

The first of the new properties, Fairmont The Red Sea, is scheduled to open by the end of 2025 within the Kingdom’s groundbreaking Red Sea Project—an initiative renowned for its emphasis on regenerative tourism. Set along 200 km of untouched coastline, this resort will feature 193 luxurious rooms, a spa, multiple kids’ clubs, a teens’ centre, and six distinctive dining venues, including an overwater restaurant with panoramic views of the Red Sea and its surrounding mangroves. Adjacent to an 18-hole championship golf course, Fairmont The Red Sea will redefine luxury by harmonizing exceptional hospitality with environmental sustainability, surrounded by unspoiled islands, dormant volcanoes, abundant marine life, and archaeological wonders.

Following this will be Fairmont Ajdan Al Khobar, due to launch in 2027. Located centrally within the vibrant Ajdan Waterfront development in Al Khobar, the hotel will offer 160 rooms and serviced apartments. It will feature four dining concepts, a luxurious Fairmont Spa, state-of-the-art fitness facilities, and executive meeting spaces. The strategic positioning within Ajdan Waterfront ensures guests easy access to retail and entertainment attractions, reinforcing Fairmont’s signature blend of sophisticated leisure and convenience.

Set to open in 2028, Fairmont Rua Madinah will overlook the revered Prophet’s Mosque, marking a significant expansion into one of Saudi Arabia’s key religious cities. The hotel will include 143 spacious rooms and suites, a variety of dining options, and 120 exclusive branded residences. Dedicated family and wellness facilities such as a kids’ club, fitness centre, and spa further enhance its appeal. This property will complement Fairmont’s established presence in Makkah with the iconic Makkah Clock Royal Tower, which offers unparalleled luxury hospitality directly overlooking the sacred Kaaba, serving as a prime destination for pilgrims performing Hajj and Umrah.

Maarten Den Nieuwenhuijsen, Senior Vice President of Openings and Guest Experience at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, emphasized the significance of these developments: “At Fairmont, we pursue growth with intention, selecting destinations that reflect our commitment to timeless hospitality and cultural resonance. Saudi Arabia is one of the world’s most dynamic tourist destinations, offering untold opportunities for growth, and we are proud to play a role in shaping its hospitality landscape.”

Fairmont Riyadh

Fairmont’s current Saudi Arabian portfolio already includes key properties such as Fairmont Hotel Riyadh, offering contemporary luxury complemented by Middle Eastern charm and renowned dining venues like Che Figata! and House of Grill. Additionally, Fairmont Ramla Serviced Residences in Riyadh, the Kingdom’s first luxury serviced residence, provides a serene retreat within the bustling capital, appealing to both leisure and business travellers.

Rolf Lippuner, Vice President of Operations for Fairmont Hotels & Resorts Middle East, highlighted the transformative nature of Saudi Arabia’s hospitality market: “Saudi Arabia’s hospitality landscape is evolving at an extraordinary pace, and Fairmont is honoured to contribute to this exciting transformation. Having spent a significant part of my career in the Kingdom, I have witnessed its dynamic growth firsthand. I am proud to continue stewarding the success of our existing properties while preparing to welcome new Fairmont addresses to life.”
