Healthtrip, a UK-based medical and wellness travel platform, has announced its expansion into the Middle East. The company has set up operational offices in both Saudi Arabia and the UAE to better serve the region’s growing demand for healthcare services. The move is in line with the Middle East’s broader push to establish itself as a global hub for health and wellness tourism.
The medical tourism sector is currently valued at over US$1 trillion globally and is experiencing rapid growth, driven by demand for specialised treatments and wellness services. The Middle East, with its accessible healthcare infrastructure and travel options, is emerging as a key destination for patients seeking medical care abroad.
Saudi Arabia has begun investing heavily in medical tourism as part of its Vision 2030 plan, aiming to diversify its economy. The Kingdom has focused on building state-of-the-art medical facilities and forming partnerships with global healthcare providers. Its healthcare sector is poised to attract more international patients, especially in fields like oncology, cardiology, and organ transplants.
The Middle East’s accessibility, combined with its ongoing healthcare investments and a rising demand for wellness and anti-aging treatments, ensures that the region will continue to be a significant player in the global medical tourism market(
Healthtrip has established a network of over 1,500 hospitals and healthcare providers across countries such as the US, UK, Germany, Thailand, India, and now the Middle East. The platform, which has served more than 65,000 patients from 38 countries, uses AI to connect users with healthcare providers based on treatment type, cost, and location. It also provides destination services, including accommodation, airport transfers, and interpreters.
Danish Ahmed, CEO and Cofounder, Healthtrip, stated, “Our recent expansion into the Middle East aligns with the region’s mission to advance health, wellness, longevity, and anti-aging experiences for global travellers. Treatments such as longevity and aesthetics are rapidly growing in demand in the region’s destinations, complementing its well-established medical offerings. With its accessible travel options, advanced healthcare infrastructure, and streamlined processes, expanding our international network to the Middle East was a strategic decision. We look forward to contributing to the growth of inbound health and wellness travel in the Middle East.”
As part of its expansion, Healthtrip has formed partnerships with prominent healthcare providers in the region, including Saudi German Hospitals, Burjeel Group, and Kings College Hospital. These collaborations aim to position Healthtrip as a leading platform for delivering healthcare services both regionally and internationally.
The company has also introduced THRIVE, a wellness programme designed for individuals seeking a lifestyle reset. The programme offers a residential experience focusing on physical therapy, mental well-being, and holistic health approaches.
With the global population aging and increasing access to information about advanced healthcare options, health and medical tourism is expected to continue its growth trajectory. The Middle East’s investment in healthcare infrastructure and wellness experiences makes it a strong contender in the global market for health tourism. Healthtrip’s entry into the region is part of a larger trend of international companies recognising the potential for growth in medical and wellness services in this part of the world.
