Saudi Arabia has emerged as the front-runner in the global tourism sector’s recovery, with United Nations Tourism hailing its remarkable 56% growth in international tourist arrivals for 2023, outpacing its performance in 2019.

This impressive statistic comes from the World Tourism Barometer’s most recent report.
The Kingdom has also been lauded for its tourism recovery rate, with a staggering 156% increase in international tourist arrivals in 2023 compared to four years prior, marking it as a beacon of travel resurgence.
Saudi Arabia is thus placed at the forefront of the Middle East’s travel rebound, with the region being the only one to have recovered beyond pre-pandemic levels, registering a 122% recovery rate in 2023.
On the domestic front, Saudi Arabia’s tourist hotspots have experienced a significant surge in visitor numbers, while the Kingdom’s international tourism revenue has hit record highs.
In the first three quarters of 2023 alone, spending by international tourists has exceeded a whopping SAR 100 billion, as per the Saudi Central Bank’s balance of payments statements.
These milestones further solidify Saudi Arabia’s position as a distinguished destination within the global tourism landscape, reflecting a soaring confidence among travellers in the Kingdom’s attractive and diverse tourism portfolio.
