Oman and Saudi Arabia have signed a memorandum of understanding to promote mutual cultural cooperation. The signing ceremony took place during the official visit of HH Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Oman’s Minister of Culture, Sports, and Youth, to Riyadh.
The meeting with his counterpart, HH Prince Badr bin Abdullah Al Saud, the Minister of Culture of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), explored various topics of mutual interest and opportunities for bilateral collaboration in the cultural sector.
The signed MoU outlines an ambitious framework for enhancing cultural exchange and collaboration between the two nations. Key areas of focus include heritage preservation, architectural and design arts, visual and performing arts, literature, publishing activities, language and translation, traditional costumes, Islamic decorations, traditional cuisine arts, and filmmaking.
Moreover, the agreement emphasizes the significance of knowledge-sharing, especially in areas of regulations, policies, and best practices governing the cultural industries. Both nations have also committed to aligning their efforts with the UNESCO conventions they have jointly ratified.
Additionally, the MoU ensures active participation from both countries in cultural festivals and activities. It aims to facilitate dialogue and communication among cultural agencies, intellectuals, and industry experts. This is expected to pave the way for strategic joint projects in various cultural domains and initiatives geared towards preserving diverse forms of heritage.
