Qiddiya to unveil the region’s largest water theme park

The Qiddiya Investment Company has announced the forthcoming opening of Aquarabia – positioned as the first and largest water theme park of its kind in the region. The park will stand alongside the flagship Six Flags Qiddiya City, marking a significant expansion in Saudi Arabia’s luxury entertainment offerings tailored for families and multi-generational tourists.

Located in Qiddiya City, southwest of Riyadh, Aquarabia promises an enriching family destination, featuring 22 rides and a myriad of water-based activities designed to cater to all ages. The park aims to blend exhilarating entertainment with family-friendly environments, making it an ideal choice for high-end travel advisors seeking unique, multigenerational tourist destinations.

Abdullah Aldawood, Managing Director of Qiddiya Investment Company (owned by Saudi Arabia’s PIF), commented on the development: “This announcement marks a significant milestone for Qiddiya City and for the entertainment, tourism and sports sector. As we keep expanding our entertainment offering, Aquarabia and Six Flags Qiddiya City will fulfill the diverse entertainment needs of our community, contribute to the diversification of our economy and create job opportunities in the tourism sector.”

The integration of sustainability is a key focus for the new development; Qiddiya City incorporates advanced environmental technologies into every phase of its development. Aquarabia will utilise recycled water for irrigation and cooling systems, with specialized filters designed to minimize energy consumption and reduce water waste by up to 90%. Meanwhile, Six Flags Qiddiya City is committed to recycling over 80% of its operational waste, significantly diverting it from landfill.

As part of the 13 strategic sectors identified by the PIF in line with Saudi Vision 2030, the entertainment, leisure, and sports industries are poised to create a more vibrant society filled with rich, fulfilling experiences. The addition of Aquarabia is set to create approximately 10,000 direct and indirect jobs, contributing substantially to the Kingdom’s GDP growth and economic diversification efforts.

Both Aquarabia and Six Flags Qiddiya City are scheduled for completion by 2025, with exact official opening dates still to be announced. The launch of Aquarabia follows a series of announcements for Qiddiya City, which include a diverse range of entertainment, sports, and cultural attractions such as the world’s first multi-use Gaming and Esports District, the multi-sports Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium, a motorsport track, and the Dragon Ball theme park.

This strategic expansion reinforces Qiddiya’s commitment to becoming a leading global destination, offering a broad array of experiences that appeal to family groups spanning multiple generations, ultimately transforming the face of tourism in Saudi Arabia.
