Marriott International, in collaboration with the Diriyah Company, has celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony for The Ritz-Carlton, Diriyah, a significant addition to KSA’s cultural and historic hub in the region of Riyadh. Scheduled to open its doors in 2026, this prestigious hotel is set to embody the essence of Diriyah’s rich heritage, while offering the renowned luxurious service and design for which the Ritz-Carlton brand is known.
The development of The Ritz-Carlton, Diriyah (artist’s impression in photo above) is part of a larger vision for Diriyah, a region steeped in history and culture, and a testament to Saudi Arabia’s rich heritage. Diriyah, located just northwest of Riyadh’s city center, is set to become the foremost historic cultural destination in Saudi Arabia. It will encompass 14 square kilometers of the historic town, transforming it into a global tourism hotspot.
The development of The Ritz-Carlton, Diriyah, and the broader transformation of the Diriyah area aims to be a blend of cultural reverence and modern luxury, honouring the past while embracing the future in order to offer a unique experience deeply rooted in the Kingdom’s rich historic tapestry.
The Ritz-Carlton, Diriyah is set to feature 195 guestrooms, including 34 suites, a specialty restaurant, an all-day dining venue, meeting rooms, an outdoor pool, fitness centre, and a kids club with Ritz Kids offerings. Guests can also look forward to a signature spa and other immersive programs. This project aligns with Marriott International’s commitment to expansion and offering unique experiences in key cultural destinations.
Diriyah is not just any development project; it’s a journey through time. With its architecture inspired by traditional Najdi styles, visitors are transported back to the era when the Arabian Peninsula was taking shape. The development is carefully crafted to preserve the historic feel of the place, ensuring that the new blends seamlessly with the old.
The heart of Diriyah is At-Turaif, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a symbol of Saudi Arabia’s formation in the 18th century. The area is being developed to showcase Saudi traditions and heritage, with an emphasis on cultural and lifestyle experiences. This includes entertainment, learning, shopping, dining, hospitality, residential, and workplace offerings.
Upon completion, Diriyah will host a population of over 100,000 residents, workers, students, and visitors. It will feature an array of cultural institutions, museums, galleries, local and international restaurants, luxury retail experiences, public squares, hotels, recreational spaces, educational institutions, and offices. Additionally, the Bujairi Terrace will soon be a new premium dining hub in Riyadh, offering stunning views of At-Turaif.
The Diriyah Company, responsible for this ambitious project, aims to create an environment that not only preserves the historical and cultural significance of the region but also enhances its national and international relevance. The company is devoted to celebrating the local community, showcasing social, cultural, and historical achievements, and connecting with Saudi Arabia’s roots to build a prosperous future for the community.
