Saudia, the national flag carrier of Saudi Arabia, and Virgin Atlantic have announced a new codeshare agreement, effective from June 2024. This collaboration between the two SkyTeam alliance members promises to deliver a host of benefits for both airlines’ passengers, catering to the needs of both tourism and business travel sectors.
The new codeshare arrangement allows passengers to book connecting flights on both Saudia and Virgin Atlantic with a single ticket. This simplifies the booking process, making travel more convenient and ensuring seamless baggage handling to the final destination. Frequent flyers also stand to gain, as they can utilise their existing membership benefits and accumulate mileage towards status upgrades on both airlines. Notably, Saudia’s AlFursan members will have the added advantage of earning and redeeming miles on Virgin Atlantic flights.
Under this agreement, Saudia passengers will enjoy enhanced connectivity, being able to travel from Jeddah and Riyadh to ten destinations across the United States and the Caribbean via Heathrow and Manchester airports. This is facilitated by Virgin Atlantic’s extensive flight network. Conversely, Virgin Atlantic passengers traveling from the United States can now easily book flights to Jeddah and Riyadh through London Heathrow and Manchester airports, making use of Saudia’s services.
This strategic partnership is poised to enrich the travel experience, providing more options and greater flexibility for travellers on both airlines. Travel advisors can expect this development to open new opportunities for their clients, offering seamless travel solutions and broader destination choices.
