The Red Sea destination is continuing to broaden its luxury hospitality portfolio with the opening of Miraval The Red Sea, as strong occupancy levels and rising holiday demand reinforce Saudi Arabia’s growing appeal among domestic and international travellers.
Red Sea Global (RSG) confirmed that occupancy across the destination reached 82% during the final 10 days of Ramadan, with forward bookings suggesting even stronger demand for the forthcoming Eid Al-Adha period.
The new property, opening on 15 May, marks the first international expansion for the US wellness brand Miraval Resorts & Spas and adds 180 rooms, suites and villas to The Red Sea’s accommodation inventory.
The adults-only, all-inclusive resort joins a destination that is entering a new phase of growth as additional properties come online at Shura Island, which serves as the central hub of The Red Sea development.
John Pagano, Group CEO of Red Sea Global, said the addition of Miraval reflected both increasing confidence in Saudi Arabia’s tourism sector and growing demand patterns.
“Welcoming Miraval Resorts & Spas, a globally respected wellness brand, to the destination reflects ongoing confidence in Saudi Arabia’s tourism offering. Demand during Ramadan and forward bookings for Eid Al-Adha point to strong momentum for the destination.”

The arrival of Miraval also underlines the growing importance of wellness travel within Saudi Arabia’s tourism strategy. Rather than positioning itself simply as another luxury beach destination, The Red Sea increasingly appears to be building a more diversified offering aimed at higher-spending travellers seeking specialised experiences.
Guests at the property will be offered programmes centred around mindfulness and personalised wellbeing, including yoga, meditation, wellness guidance and culinary experiences inspired by local influences.
One of the resort’s key features is the 3,000-square-metre Life in Balance Spa, currently the largest spa facility on Shura Island, with 39 treatment rooms and dedicated spaces focused on wellness, outdoor activities and nutrition.
The opening comes as Red Sea Global continues to highlight its regenerative tourism ambitions. The destination has repeatedly stated its target of achieving a 30% net conservation gain by 2040, with hotels operating on renewable energy and using integrated waste and water management systems intended to minimise environmental impact.
Accessibility to the destination is also increasing. To support expected demand during Eid Al-Adha, 32 additional flights have been added to Red Sea International Airport, with visitors set to be offered a programme of dining, entertainment and cultural activities throughout the holiday period.
Miraval’s arrival is unlikely to be the last high-profile addition to Shura Island this season. Four Seasons Resort and Residences Red Sea at Shura Island has also begun accepting reservations from 20 May.
The Red Sea currently has 11 hotels operating, with a further six scheduled to open on Shura Island in the coming months, signalling another significant step in the destination’s expansion.
