In a move set to bolster connectivity and ease travel between North America and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, WestJet and Saudia have announced a new interline agreement that opens up seamless travel options to more than 100 destinations.
The agreement allows WestJet guests to book single-connection itineraries to Saudi Arabia for the first time, with smooth transfers and through-checked baggage. Passengers flying with WestJet can now connect via Toronto Pearson directly to Jeddah, and via London Heathrow and Paris Charles-de-Gaulle to both Jeddah and Riyadh, all on a single ticket.
“An interline partnership with Saudia marks a major step forward in expanding global connectivity for our guests,” said John Weatherill, Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer at WestJet. “This agreement not only provides WestJet guests with seamless single-connection access to Saudia’s extensive global network but also strengthens inbound tourism and business links. Together, WestJet and Saudia are creating more convenient and diverse travel options for guests on both sides, fostering stronger connections and collaboration across continents.”

For Saudi Arabia, which continues to invest heavily in positioning itself as a premier tourism, business and cultural destination under Vision 2030, this deal represents another important boost. It provides travellers from across Canada — a key long-haul source market — with simpler, more efficient journeys to explore the Kingdom’s rapidly growing tourism hotspots, from the heritage sites of AlUla to Riyadh’s dynamic cultural scene and Jeddah’s historic old town.
Arved von zur Muehlen, Chief Commercial Officer at Saudia, underlined the strategic importance of this partnership: “We value the partnership with WestJet, it reflects Saudia’s commitment to offer our guests more destinations through key international gateways. Canada is now closer than ever, and we are also offering a seamless journey for travellers from Canada to explore Saudi Arabia and experience its unique culture, heritage, and hospitality.”
Under the agreement, travellers will benefit from single check-in and through-checked baggage across both airlines’ networks, with bookings available via travel agents or third-party ticketing platforms.
The signing ceremony took place between Arved von zur Muehlen of Saudia and John Weatherill of WestJet, marking what both airlines view as a pivotal step in building stronger ties and expanding passenger options across continents.
As Saudi Arabia looks to welcome more than 70 million international visitors annually by 2030, enhanced air partnerships like this one are expected to play a crucial role in unlocking new routes and making the Kingdom more accessible than ever for travellers from North America.
