Strategic management updates @ Red Sea Global

Red Sea Global (RSG) has unveiled significant leadership changes as it continues to drive forward its ambitious regenerative tourism projects in Saudi Arabia. Established in 2018 as a venture of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), RSG is leading two of the most prominent tourism initiatives in the region: The Red Sea and Amaala projects.

Central to Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, the Red Sea Project encompasses 28,000 square kilometres and features the world’s fourth-largest barrier reef system. Once fully operational, the development aims to attract up to one million visitors annually by 2030. With the recent operational launch of three hotels and the commencement of both domestic and international flights, RSG is well on track to meet its ambitious targets.

As part of its ongoing efforts to ensure excellence in hospitality and tourism, RSG has, according to Hotelier Middle East, made key updates to its leadership team, including two promotions and a new hire in the sales department.

Tony Coveney: Cluster General Manager for Three Prestigious Resorts

Tony Coveney

Tony Coveney has been promoted to cluster general manager for three of RSG’s luxury properties: The St. Regis Red Sea Resort, Nujuma, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, and The Red Sea EDITION. Coveney, who joined Red Sea Global in 2022 as a multi-property general manager, played a pivotal role in the openings of The St. Regis Red Sea Resort and Nujuma, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, which launched on 26 May 2023.

Reflecting on his new role, Coveney shared on LinkedIn: “The journey continues in the Red Sea. 2023 saw the opening of the first island resort in Saudi Arabia, the exquisite St. Regis Red Sea Resort. 2024 saw the opening of the first Ritz-Carlton Reserve in EMEA, the historic and uniquely beautiful ‘Nujuma’. Completing this luxury cluster will be The Red Sea Edition, a Foster and Partners marvel on Shura island, due to open mid-2025. What a privilege it is to steward three of Marriott International’s luxury brands.”

With over 25 years of experience in luxury hospitality, Coveney began his career at Four Seasons Dublin in 2003 and has since held executive roles in sales, marketing, rooms operations, and food and beverage departments, focusing exclusively on luxury properties.

Andrea Colla: General Manager of The St. Regis Red Sea Resort

Andrea Colla

Andrea Colla has been promoted to general manager of The St. Regis Red Sea Resort. Colla has been a key figure at the resort since 2023, serving as resort manager. His leadership and commitment to luxury hospitality have been instrumental in shaping the guest experience, making his promotion a natural progression.

Colla, who previously held roles at The Ritz-Carlton and Four Seasons, commented on his new position: “I am honoured to step into the role of general manager at The St. Regis Red Sea Resort. Having served as resort manager, I have seen the dedication and passion of our team. This leadership role is both a privilege and a responsibility, and I am committed to maintaining the high standards of excellence and luxury expected by our guests.”

Wejdan Yamani

Wejdan Yamani joins RSG as cluster senior manager of sales at Red Sea Global Hospitality.
