UK citizens can now visit Saudi Arabia for up to six months without a prior visa, thanks to a new Electronic Visa Waiver (EVW), which has been launched by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to a report in the Saudi Gazette. The EVW is available for British nationals who wish to travel to the Kingdom for business, tourism, study or treatment purposes.
The announcement is a reciprocal gesture from Saudi Arabia, as the UK had already introduced a similar EVW facility for Saudi citizens from June 1, 2022. Saudi citizens can visit the UK without a prior visa using the EVW, as long as they do not intend to work, study or settle in the UK. The EVW also eliminates the need for biometrics, Visa Application Centre visits or passport submissions before travel.
To obtain the EVW for Saudi Arabia, UK citizens are required to complete an online application on the Unified National Visa Platform at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The application can be submitted anytime between 90 days and 48 hours before the planned travel date. The EVW approval will be emailed to the applicant within 24 hours.
The EVW is valid for a single entry and a stay of up to six months in Saudi Arabia. It is one of the ways that UK citizens can use to visit the Kingdom with ease and convenience.
