Government reshuffle: new deputy Tourism Minister appointed

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, has issued a series of Royal Orders resulting in key appointments and reassignments within the Saudi government. These changes reflect the Kingdom’s strategic efforts to enhance administrative efficiency and governance across various sectors.

Given the growing importance of the tourism industry to Saudi Arabia’s economy, a new Deputy Tourism Minister has been appointed to support the current Minister, Ahmed Al Khateeb, who has been in this pivotal role since 2020. Eng. Anas bin Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Sulaia will join the ministry as part of this strategic move, bringing fresh perspectives and expertise to the tourism sector.

In addition to this appointment, other notable changes include:

  • Prince Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf Al Muqrin has been appointed as Special Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques with the rank of minister. He will also assume the duties of Vice Minister of the National Guard.
  • Abdulmohsen bin Abdulaziz Al-Tuwaijri has been relieved from his position as Vice Minister of the National Guard and has been appointed as an Advisor at the Royal Court with the rank of minister.
  • Khaled bin Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Abdulkarim has been appointed as Secretary General of the Cabinet with the rank of minister, while Al-Shihana bint Saleh bin Abdullah Al-Azzaz has been relieved from her post as Deputy Secretary General of the Cabinet and appointed as an Advisor at the Royal Court.
  • Mazen bin Turki bin Abdullah Al-Sudairy has been appointed as an Advisor at the Secretariat General of the Cabinet with the rank of excellent.
  • Eng. Sami bin Abdullah Muqeem has been appointed as Vice President of the Saudi Data & AI Authority (SDAIA) with the rank of excellent.
  • Al-Rebdi bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al-Rebdi has been appointed as Head of the National Data Management Office with the rank of excellent.
  • Abdulmohsen bin Saad bin Abdulmohsen Al-Khalaf is now Vice Deputy Minister of Finance with the rank of excellent.
  • Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Abdulaziz Al-Duhaim has been appointed as Assistant Minister of Commerce with the rank of excellent.
  • Dr. Abdullah bin Ali bin Mohammed Al-Ahmari is now Assistant Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Planning and Development with the rank of excellent.

These appointments signify the Kingdom’s commitment to driving forward its Vision 2030 agenda by ensuring that key sectors are led by capable and experienced leaders. The new Deputy Tourism Minister, Eng.
